Your About section, the spot where you share a brief story or description about your brand, is essentially your business profile. You should be able to tell people what your brand is about while not overwhelming them with details. It’s located on the bottom left of your page, and you can edit it directly by clicking the Edit link in the box, or by clicking the Edit Page Info link in the left sidebar.
Your Facebook page is a vehicle in which to drive traffic to your website or sales page. Keep your profile information brief but intriguing so that readers seek out more information from your home page.
Here are some important details to include in your brand’s business profile:
- A brief explanation of what your company does and perhaps your mission statement. This information shouldn’t be a sales pitch; focus more on what you believe and what your brand can offer the community.
- A link to your blog or website or both.
- Links to other social media profiles — for example, Twitter and LinkedIn.
- A physical address, if you have one, or be sure to click the radio button that says “My page doesn’t have a location” underneath the address section.
- Hours of operation.
- Contact information.
The purpose of your brand’s Facebook page is to engage with your community and share your brand’s story. Therefore, don’t make the About section of your profile a long, historical manifesto. Instead, keep it brief so that you don’t lose page visitors before they get to a link where they can learn more.
