{"id":2638,"date":"2024-08-24T13:26:38","date_gmt":"2024-08-24T13:26:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/workhouse.sweetdishy.com\/?p=2638"},"modified":"2024-08-24T13:26:38","modified_gmt":"2024-08-24T13:26:38","slug":"direction-of-induced-emf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/workhouse.sweetdishy.com\/index.php\/2024\/08\/24\/direction-of-induced-emf\/","title":{"rendered":"DIRECTION OF INDUCED EMF"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p id=\"para-391\">The direction of induced emf and hence current in a conductor or coil can be determined by either of the following two methods:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"ol-011\">\n<li><strong>Fleming\u2019s Right-hand Rule:\u00a0<\/strong>This rule is applied to determine the direction of induced emf in a conductor moving across the field and is stated as\u2018Stretch first finger, second finger, and thumb of your right-hand mutually perpendicular to each other. If first finger indicates the direction of magnetic field and thumb indicates the direction of motion of conductor, then second finger will indicate the direction of induced emf in the conductor.\u2019Its illustration is shown in\u00a0Figure 5.27.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lenz\u2019s Law:&nbsp;<\/strong>This law is more suitably applied to determine the direction of induced emf in a coil or circuit when flux linking with it changes. It is stated as \u2018In effect, electromagnetically induced emf and hence current flows in a coil or circuit in such a direction that the magnetic field set up by it always opposes the very cause which produces it.\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"para-394\">When\u00a0<em>N<\/em>-pole of a bar magnet is taken near to the coil, as shown in\u00a0Figure 5.28 (a), an emf is induced in the coil, and hence, current flows through it in such a direction that side \u2018<em>B\u2019 of<\/em>\u00a0the coil attains North polarity that opposes the movement of the bar magnet.
