A notable example is that of Aristotle (384-322 BCE). He made significant contributions to the study of animals through his work in biology. While the scientific methods used during this time may not have been as rigorous as today’s standards, early naturalists and scientists conducted experiments, took rational observations, and conducted systematic studies to better understand the animal kingdom.
