Researchers began to explore how drugs interact with the body and their <strong>biological effects<\/strong> (pharmacodynamics).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The term <strong>pharmacology<\/strong> itself began to emerge as a distinct scientific discipline.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Claude Bernard<\/strong> (1813\u20131878), a French physiologist, is often considered the <strong>founder of modern pharmacology<\/strong>. He conducted pioneering work on how drugs affect organs and tissues and laid the groundwork for <strong>experimental pharmacology<\/strong>.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>His experiments showed how <strong>curare<\/strong> (a poison used by South American tribes) affects the <strong>nervous system<\/strong>, providing one of the first explanations for the <strong>mechanisms of action<\/strong> of toxins.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Synthesis of Drugs:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>synthesis of drugs<\/strong> from natural sources was another key development.
