It contains\u00a0chromosomes,\u00a0nucleolus, nuclear bodies, and nucleosol. It is surrounded by a\u00a0nuclear envelope\u00a0(also called\u00a0<em>nuclear membrane<\/em>) that is perforated with nuclear pores. Since it contains most of the genetic material of an animal, it is regarded as the\u00a0<em>control center<\/em>\u00a0of the cell, regulating most of the cell\u2019s activities such as metabolism, growth, and reproduction.
